Many famous and important people got their start in New Jersey.  Your article will inform your readers about one of them.  Describe how they made a difference in New Jersey and maybe even the world.

You may write one of the following articles. Select a topic that you find interesting and that may not be commonly known to other 4th graders.  In addition to the facts, see if you can’t find a way to surprise your readers.  Be sure to tell them why this topic is important to New Jersey.

  • One article, 150-250 words, about a famous New Jerseyan from the American Revolutionary War period.
  • One article, 150-250 words, about a famous New Jersey inventor, writer or scientist.
  • One article, 150-250 words, about a person or group of people from New Jersey who overcame obstacles in life to achieve great things or make important changes for others.

Use correct grammar, punctuation and capitalization.  Use Times New Roman or Arial size 12 font.  Be sure to save your work and name each document file as instructed by your teacher.  You may attach one photo when you submit your article.

Here’s a Fun Project for the Class: Have a Famous New Jerseyans Day at school, where each person in your class dresses up as a famous person from New Jersey and teaches everyone about why they were famous.
