JANUARY 2007
January 1: New Jersey leads the nation in innovation: Edison’s light bulb, phonograph, and movies, DeForest’s vacuum tube, and Bell Lab’s transistor.
January 2: Four-star restaurant to corner deli, NJ has food for every taste: French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Southwestern, Cuban, Mexican, and the signature Jersey Diner.
January 3: We're tough, we're gritty, we're stand-up guys, and all those Jersey jokes are pure envy :)
January 4: NJ has great natural beauty and diverse recreation. I'd drive thousands of miles to enjoy what I can do right in my own back yard!
January 5: You can have it all in NJ-- history, arts, science, culture and fun. Organic farms to high tech startups-- You want it, you got it!
January 6: NJ has the variety of seasons, the beauty of the landscape, the diversity of people, the rich history, the cultural opportunities, and the wonderful neighborhoods to live in.
January 7: You can put someone from NJ anywhere and they will do fine. But you can't bring just anyone to NJ and expect the same.
January 8: NJ was the first state to ratify the Bill of Rights, guaranteeing our fundamental American freedoms.

January 14: New Jersey volunteers. More than 80,000 volunteer firefighters and EMTs, thousands more in the National Guard. Jersey people care for one another.

January 16: Sunny days, starry nights, full moons, fishing, crabbing, clamming, and strolling along the miles of beautiful beaches that make up the Jersey Shore!

January 22: Thousands of fisherman visit New Jersey for the fishing. Bluefish and stripers run the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.

January 24: NJ is the birthplace of bubble-wrap, the durable plastic wonder which has made generations of kids smile.
January 25: New Jersey has a little of EVERYTHING: mountains, ocean, lakes, farms, cities, quaint little towns, countryside, canals, rivers, and fabulous state parks.
January 26: New Jersey has more race horses per capita than Kentucky!
January 27: The feeling of camraderie! NJ is one big family. The people are friendly, welcoming and always willing to offer support.
January 28: We have the most diners on earth and are known as the diner capital of the world. We don't cook, we just order meals.
January 29: New Jersey's beatiful shore is the only place in the world where horseshoe crabs lay their eggs.
January 30: NJ-- the land where our freedom was won and where anything is possible!

February 1: The Shore. One word can flood a girl's heart. It is our life, our love. We belong to it. It's the ideal memory, the ideal place.
February 2: Hoboken, NJ, the birthplace of Frank Sinatra and baseball, and the best view of NYC.
February 3: The beauty and tranquility of the Pine Barrens, NJ's great natural treasure.
February 4: The wonderful teachers who dedicate their professional lives to making New Jersey students some of the most successful in the country.
February 5: NJ is the hub of the East Coast. Minutes from the shore, the city, the woods, and the mountains, and it celebrates all four seasons!
February 6: Because wine does not have to be old and bitter, I celebrate the great flavors of New Jersey wines.
February 7: Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ-- journey into a gift you can enjoy unwrapping and regifting to yourself and others over and over again.
February 8: New Jersey is home to the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial, the nation's most decorated battleship!
February 9: The diversity of NJ could be experienced in a several hour car ride. You could start the day in the mountains, drive through the countryside, along the beach, and then to the casinos.
February 10: The Garden State Philharmonic--the Jersey Shore's music resource! This great organization has been providing professional concerts and music education experiences for over 50 years.
February 11: New Jersey was one of the early states to fight against slavery and it's efforts were important to abolishing it.
February 12: I love music. The first solid body electric guitar was invented by Les Paul of Mahwah in 1940. That makes New Jersey a perfect home for me.
February 13: John Stetson, the man who made the cowboy hat, grew up in Orange, New Jersey. We also have the best schools with the best teachers.
February 14: NJ has everything; from farmland to marshland, city shopping to amusement parks, quiet walks to fireworks and family fun.
February 15: Academics, art, entertainment, and sports come together at one place, New Jersey. This is the only place where there is something for everyone. Celebrate NJ!
February 16: Because George Washington crossed the icy Delaware River on that cold Christmas morning to attack the Hessians and won!
February 17: New Jersey is where the scientific study of dinosaur fossils began. It's also where the first dinosaur skeleton in North America was found.
February 18: In New Jersey I can experience four changing seasons. My life is a complete movie of fun memories in New Jersey.
February 19: I love salt water taffy, and it just so happens that salt water taffy was invented in New Jersey!
February 20: I celebrate New Jersey for its natural wonders, its spirit of diversity and its determination to achieve a greater world.
February 21: Having a cup of coffee on the banks of the South Branch of the Raritan River in Clinton, overlooking the famous Red Mill and waterfall. Now that's how you start a day!
February 22: The first baseball game was played in NJ on New Jersey's open fields.
February 23: From lighthouses to lightbulbs--NJ Lights up the World!
February 24; Location, location, location - close to the most powerful and exciting places in the world (NYC, Philadelphia and Washington, DC) and able to live in a rural, semi-rural or urban setting.
February 25: In NJ, you don't have to pump your own gasoline. We have retired to Delaware, and I don't think I'll ever adjust. I miss that about NJ.
February 26: New Jersey has the highest population per square mile (most densely populated state) and we all get along.
February 27: There is always a diner nearby, where I can have breakfast food at at 3 o'clock in the morning.
February 28: Find a seashell, hike a trail, climb a lighthouse, drink an ale! Jersey Devil – truth or mystery? Enjoy it all -oceans, mountains and history.

March 1: 2007marks the 120th anniversary of Asbury Park, NJ, a historical landmark in the midst of revitalization.
March 2: Our new National Heritage Area, The Crossroads of the American Revolution, celebrating NJ's pivotal role in the American Revolution
March 3: New Jersey is where I fell in love!
March 4: Jenkinson's Aquarium-- sharks, penguins, and seals delight! Open year round, affordable,educational and conveniently located on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach.
March 5: Celebrate the wilderness still left in New Jersey - Allamuchy Mountain State Park and Waterloo Village in Byram Township!
March 6: The great NJ Film Festival at Cape May celebrating NJ Filmakers and supporting the Young Filmakers learning in the Cape May area.
March 7: NJ Libraries...They're free, open, warm, quiet and clean. The libraries are informed, informative and highly connected. They are The Source...
March 8: Burying your dad in the sand at the Jersey Shore!
March 9: Princeton, with its small-town charm, historic places of interest, and first-rate ivy-league university--well worth a day's visit. A NJ treasure!
March 10: NJ has a varied selection of live theatre offerings, including dramas, musicals and celebrity performers. It's like going to a Broadway production but without the Broadway prices.
March 11: The All Veterans Memorial-- New Jersey’s premiere living memorial and ceremonial ground honoring generations of our servicemen and women and affirming the unity of our people.
March 12: Celebrate NJ's 213 years of aviation history beginning with Jean Pierre Blanchard's balloon flight from Philadelphia to Deptford, NJ in 1793.
March 13: New Jersey has the best of every world - beaches, farmlands, Revolutionary War sites, and bustling cities. I've lived here for all of my 35 years and am still discovering it!
March 14: New Jersey is the most culturally diverse state in the nation!
March 15: The friends you make here are your friends for life no mater where life takes you.
March 16: Celebrate Show Place Ice Cream Parlour in Beach Haven on LBI. Singing, dancing, lots of laughs….and wonderful Arctic ice cream creations too!
March 17: Nutley, a small town that feels like a family in NJ. A walk through the park invites neighbors and strangers that smile and say Hello!!
March 18: Being an immigrant, For me New Jersey has given me a wonderful new and great life for many years to come.
March 19: We cherish New Jersey’s leadership in clean, renewable energy. By embracing a path to a sustainable future, NJ is helping to secure brighter tomorrows for generations to come.
March 20: New Jersey is the best state for motorcycle rides-- go south to see shore, wet lands and Osprey; go north for hills, mountains, black bear and deer.
March 21: I celebrate New Jersey for the nice fall walks on the Delaware-Raritan Canal, watching as the autumn breeze blows the leaves
March 22: Ridgefield Park, NJ has one of the oldest 4th of July celebrations in the country. The frist parade and celebration started on July 4th 1894.
March 23: I like New Jersey because I can find my favorite Bluegrass and Country music at Albert Hall, Waretown, Saturday nights. It's a way of life.
March 24: Celebrate NJ History from The American Revolution, The Underground Railroad and strong women like Abigail Goodwin, Harriet Tubman, Alice Paul and Molly Pitcher.
March 25: My grandparents came from Norway to live in the USA. They choose NJ because of the rich fishing industry and the beautiful sandy beaches.
March 26: Our fresh fruit and vegtables! The Collingswood Farmer's Market is the best open market. The fresh crepes made on the spot, the music, friendliness, and of course, great food!
March 27: The creative people who invented the famous board game Monopoly named the streets in the game after real streets in the one and only Atlantic City, New Jersey.
March 28: NJ is a state of Diversity, of people, food, culture, & environment. It is a microcosm of the country offering something for everyone.
March 29: Beautiful beaches make me feel so alive and at home, I could never live anywhere else. It's all about relaxing with friends and family at the beach.
March 30: Kayaking into the sunset on the Mullica River
March 31: Celebration, imagination, famous names and famous creations. So come to New Jersey for your next vacation!
APRIL 2007
April 1: The Garden State is fourth in production of peaches.
April 2: Floating on the Delaware River, the Battleship New Jersey is a magnificent historical artifact right in our back yard.
April 3: The smell of the Pine Barrens, especially in late summer and fall, is a cornucopia of scents produced by the forest floor and the pines.
April 4: Albert Einstein, winner of the Nobel Prize in physics, lived in Princeton and was one of New Jersey's most famous citizens.
April 5: I love New Jersey because its geographic and cultural beauty is only trumped by the sincerity and the spirit of its people.
April 6: Celebrate Surflight Theatre, a cultural tradition on LBI. Where else can you see stars of today and tomorrow performing for the price of parking elsewhere?
April 7: Guess where the first submarine ride was? It was in the Passaic River. John Holland invented it in Paterson!
April 8: New Jersey has a little bit of everything, including the only place this "Jersey Girl" calls home.
April 9: New Jersey provides two-thirds of the world with its eggplant crop! Wow!
April 10: The book, "Alcoholics Anonymous," was written in Newark, NJ in 1938! Later called the "Big Book" among alcoholics, it went on to help millions!
April 11: Keeping Young in NJ! I am the youngest (at 72!) volunteer reader in the Bradley Beach school's "Reading Buddies" program for 1st and 2nd graders.
April 12: New Jersey is a gay friendly state, supporting domestic partnerships and single or joint adoption of children. Many private companies also offer domestic partner benefits.
April 13: NJ has the highest median income in the US. If we were a country, we would have the highest median income in the world.
April 14: In 1869, Dr. Thomas Bramwell Welch successfully pasteurized concord grape juice for fellow parishioners at his church in Vineland.
April 15: The reason I celebrate NJ is Lake Hopatcong. It was formed from glaciers melted from the Ice Age a long time ago.
April 16: I celebrate New Jersey for my morning’s run along the coast of Long Beach Island. The glory of its creation prepares me for the day to come.
April 17: The people who warmed my heart, the schools that shaped my mind, and the communities that made me who I am today.
April 18: Trenton Central High School Band! "F5" They are invincible!
April 19: In our New Jersey, we look out for one another. When families are confronted with unforeseen emergency situations, we become rapid, caring and generous responders.
April 20: Old fashioned downtowns like Maplewood Village! Nostalgic for a quaint downtown? Book store, ice cream, movie theater, shops, great food, grocery store. It's all here.
April 21: Bolstering NY, NJ became refuge for immigrants; because of this, we find tolerance insufficient; acceptance, understanding and respect are necessary for a community to thrive.
April 22: Park and Ride to Surf and Turf!
April 23: I am surrounded by folks who teach me by the ways they live, the languages they speak, and the foods they eat. NJ shows me the world!
April 24: Jersey born. Jersey raised. Jersey educated. New Jersey is home!
April 25: NJ is home to the only Cookie Jar House in the United States.
April 26: Great library services! We were the first state to offer 24/7 library service through QandANJ.org!
April 27: I love New Jersey and I love a Jersey girl. We met by chance at a restaurant on the Shrewsbury River. She guessed my name.
April 28: 18 beautiful lighthouses, fascinating and majestic; 11 are open to the public. All located in picturesque area. 18 reasons I celebrate this beautiful state.
April 29: NJ is Birthplace of the American Film Industry from Thomas Edison's "Black Maria," the world's first studio, to the first film town, Fort Lee, NJ.
April 30: Sand Dune 8A at Island Beach State Park....at sunset it takes your breath away and holds special, loving memories for me.
MAY 2007
May 1: Kingston, NJ, is a historic jewel, NE of Princeton, where Gen. Washington defeated British troops in the early struggle to become a free nation.
May 2: I love the Garden State Discovery Museum. It celebrates and exhibits all that is great about our Garden State!
May 3: May in Montclair. Month long festival of events to make people feel good about living, working, shopping and spending time in Montclair. Tulips, tulips, tulips.
May 4: The fishing! After the crowd goes home from summer vacation, the REAL fishing season starts! The abundance of fish on the jersey shore is amazing!
May 5: The sculpture garden at the Newark Museum. The exhibits are always thought-provoking and it's a restful oasis in a busy city.
May 6: Leonia,NJ - home to 5 Nobel Prize scientists, was a noted art colony and is home of the most professional oboe players per capita in the US.
May 7: The Alice Paul Institute has turned the only National Historic Landmark in NJ devoted to a woman into a Girls Leadership Center.
May 8: "Jersey Boy", Bruce Springsteen, and his music help bring me back to the "Glory Days" and my years growing up as a true "Jersey Girl."
May 9: NJ is home of the Oldest Nudist Club in the country-- Sky Farm in Basking Ridge
May 10: The Von Steuben House in River Edge, NJ, home of the man who helped to turn a collection volunteers into the Continental Army.
May 11: NJ is home to the first Outlet Mall, Liberty Village Premium Outlets, a colonial style village located in Flemington, NJ.
May 12: Mount Holly. Eat an incredible meal, walk through history, climb the highest point in Burlington County and still have time to canoe the Rancocas.
May 13: I have 21 outstanding third grade students learning about NJ's 21 fabulous counties.
May 14: Parkway cruising to the south. That's what Jersey's all about. Take an exit to the sea, view nature, surfside, perfectly.
May 15: Haledon, NJ and the American Labor Museum, a unique learning center dedicated to teaching the public about NJ's workers, immigrant and labor movement.
May 16: Historic Cold Spring Village and The Naval Air Station Wildwood....
May 17: The best "tomato pie" and "casino hot dogs" in the world!
May 18: More high school athletes participate in fencing programs in New Jersey than the rest of the country combined!
May 19: Space communications started here, in NJ, when on January 10, 1946 the U.S. Army Signal Corps made radar contact with the moon.
May 20: New Jersey's diversity has presented me with great friends from Costa Rica, Egypt, India, Iraq and South Korea...Right in my school!
May 21: Six years to date, Came with my mate, Six miles at sea, Exit 63. Six minutes to surf and sand, Retirement LBI is grand!
May 22: Morristown, military capital of the American Revolution! George Washington and his troops encamped here not once but twice!
May 23: Because my three daughters were born into a state of love and racial diversity, where they can grow to become great women
May 24: NJ has great highways. You can get from urban to suburban in one hour or less for a little peace and quiet.
May 25: NJ has the best open space, fox hunting, basset hunting, large & small game hunting, and fishing.
May 26: Readington is the host of ahot air balloon festival that is Celebrating its 25th anniversary in July this year.
May 27: The ghosts of Mount Holly, who love it here so much, they just can't leave. Come hear their stories every Friday the thirteenth!
May 28: Great beaches and boardwalks! Lots of beautiful state parks to explore--camp-- nature centers-- historic towns and villages-- exciting entertainment in Atlantic City!
May 29: Because it's an awesome place to be a kid!
May 30: Richland Village. Historic Trains and Model Trains in a rural country setting in Buena Vista Township, Atlantic County.

June 1: NJ is a "jack of all trades" state. It's versatile, beautiful and a great place to live with so much to offer for everyone ages 1 to 101!
June 2: NJ was home to famous Olympian Carl Lewis, who set a world record for the 100 meter and 60 yard dash.
June 3: NJ has a deep, rich history that mirrors our country's past. Newark Academy, where I teach, is older than our nation.
June 4: New Jersey cares equally well for its young and old.
June 5: I love strawberries and in New Jersey I can pick my own, as many as my dad can carry!
June 6: NJ is the center of the US pharmaceutical industry. As a result, we are a leader in chemistry, mathematics and biotechnology.
June 7: New Jersey has the best Ballroom Dancers in the world!
June 8: There is a poet under every rock. A writer behind every tree. A rich literary heritage from Joyce Kilmer, William Carlos Williams, to Walt Whitman.
June 9: New Jersey is the world, just look at her faces, listen to her speaking, be moved by her spirit! Open up and touch her heart.
June 10: Driving over the last covered bridge (Green Sergeants) over the Wickecheoke Creek in Hunterdon County.
June 11: M & Ms were invented here. Boy, they are delicious!
June 12: I love the "Irish Riviera"-- Avon, Belmar, Spring Lake. Still go there several times every summer.
June 13: The Masterwork Chorus! They've performed Handel's Messiah every December for 52 years. It's a tradition for many families and I hope it continues forever!
June 14: Secaucus, NJ-- Birthplace of Dave Draper Body Building Champion -Mr. New Jersey Mr. America, Mr. World, Mr. Universe, author and actor.
June 15: New Jersey became the first state to require recycling. We don't take the environment for granted, just look at the Highlands, Pinelands, Wetlands, etc. Acts, the list goes on…
June 16: New Jerseyite Margo Pellegrino focuses on keeping our ocean healthy by paddling up the Atlantic from Miami to Camden, Maine, starting Monday, May 7, 2007.
June 17: New Jersey is the only state with a Family Support Organization covering each county, supporting children with behavioral, emotional, and mental needs and their families.
June 18: Painting from models at duCret School of Art in Plainfield and with the Art Centre of New Jersey at Riker Hill Art Park, Livingston.
June 19: Rutgers! And a Dunkin' Donuts on every corner...whoo-hoo!
June 20: Two of the greatest minds the world has ever seen, Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison called NJ "home". We couldn't be prouder of how their accomplishment have honored NJ.
June 21: New Jersey's diverse, tough and amazing population; its celebration of the arts with its musicians, actors and other creative residents; its a place I'm proud to call home.
June 22: It makes me feel like I am safe and protected from many of the tragedies of he world. NJ lets me know how lucky I am to be an American.

June 25: NJ respects our bears. The most recent hunt was cancelled, proving we want peaceful coexistence. We love all of our residents, human and non-human alike.
JUne 26: My home in the hills of bucolic Hunterdon, childhood memories of our one-of-a-kind boardwalk and beach, my grandpa's Jersey City brownstone…
June 27: A maritime, agricultural, and commercial history spanning four centuries where historical sites are found in almost every town makes NJ a history buff's paradise.
June 28: This time of year NJ lives up to its name...The Garden State! There's nowhere prettier when trees and flowers are blooming and farms bearing the fruits and vegetables of their labor.
June 29: Great places to explore! Ken Lockwood Gorge, Stokes State Forest, Tillman's Ravine and Buttermilk Falls, Wreck Diving off the Jersey Shore

July 1: The Newark Boys Chorus cultivates music and culture in New Jersey.
July 2: NJ represents the USA! Our diversity is our strength and what makes us great. The shore, mountains, cities, farms, suburbs...we have it all!!!
July 3: No sales tax on clothing makes me a very happy Jersey Girl!
July 4: New Jersey is the center of America's History and the home of Lady Liberty. Washington's first major victory on road to independence.
July 5: Ocean of Love for children with cancer in Toms River. Helping families cope.
July 6: The Lambert Castle Museum in Paterson has the world's largest collection of spoons (5,400).
July 7: Plainwood Square Concert Series! We had just moved to Plainfield in May and the concerts offered us a great way to meet neighbors!
July 8: The State Dinosaur of New Jersey is the Hadrosaurus. I can dig that!
July 9: William Franklin, Benjamin Franklin's son, was one of the Royal Governors of NJ and Alice Paul, a well-known women's rights leader was from Moorestown, NJ
July 10: In New Jersey I can immerse myself in nature, and go out and enjoy city life! I experience everything from quaint restaurants to bungee jumping here!
July 11: Plump, juicy blueberries right off the blueberry bush on a warm summer day. Yummmmmm!
July 12: Our dynamic energy and diversity, beautiful beaches, bucolic farms and forests, vibrant cities. A melting pot of cultures that propels a powerful economy and bright future.
July 13: For the love of the ocean waves, the salty air, and the roar of the sea!
July 14: Tall Ship AJ Meerwald from Bivalve, NJ and her environmental mission to revive the Delaware Bay and minimize the overuse of natural resources.
July 15: Sled, Ski, Swim... Hike, Bike, Win... Do It All in NJ!
July 16: The reason I celebrate NJ! is the Secaucus Public Library, which has it all! "Voices" from the shelves provide drama, humor, hope, knowledge and news.
July 17: Cool, clear streams and streams of consciousness; Rolling surf, rolling hills; Fields of Dreams, fields of corn; Brilliance of minds, historic times; New Jersey.
July 18: New Jersey: Where I can eNJoy clean, smoke-free air outside and inside.
July 19: The kindest and most generous people in the world, and the best pizza anywhere, bar none!
July 20: It's the land of opportunity... for Hispanics (Sen. Robert Menendez), African Americans (Newark Mayor Corey Booker), and women (Gov. Christie Whitman)
July 21: I watch the gentle march of a lone crane, diligent, yet graceful.The bay wraps into the ocean toward the south, hugging "Old Barney" beacon tall and true.
July 22: NJ nurtures its senior citizens with education, entertainment, transportation, food programs, healthcare. Also rebates, discounts, tax freezes, support programs and more.
July 23: The people of NJ are the best part of this state. Open Minds! I have seen more good ideas come from the people of New Jersey than anywhere else!
July 24: Great year-round fishing: the entire western border on the Delaware, the eastern border along the Hudson, the NJ shore. Lakes, reservoirs, canals, rivers and the intercoastal water way.
July 25: The Great Swamp Wildlife Refuge- a beautiful place to hike and bird watch, and a great example of foresight preserving the land for future generations.

July 27: In New Jersey, we have some of the most dedicated volunteer fire companies. Most have set the bar for the entire Nation.
July 28: Assinpeake State Park-- the Jewel of New Jersey and a hidden treasure!
July 29: All the minor and independent league baseball that make for family fun in New Jersey- BlueClaws, Thunder, Patriots, Bears, Skyhawks, Jackals, Surf and Riversharks!
July 30: NJ is the birthplace of "Odyssey of the Mind", the International creative problem solving program created by Professor Sam Miclus in Glassboro over 25 years ago!
July 31: I have been in all 48 continental United States and three Canadian provinces, but New Jersey is the best of the best!
