SHARE THE GREEN WITH SCHOOLS CAMPAIGN
What is the campaign? Share the Green with Schools is a creative and responsible way to provide funds to New Jersey classrooms, help families save money they would normally spend on traditional school fundraisers, support the environment, and generate sustainable income for Celebrate NJ’s school programs.
Why are we doing this? School budgets have been cut, and every year, teachers spend more than $450 on average out of their own pockets for classroom supplies and basic materials for their students; forget extras and class trips! Likewise, funding for nonprofit organizations is harder to come by. Every year, Celebrate NJ has to raise funds so we can continue to deliver classroom writing programs free of charge to all schools. The Share the Green with Schools Campaign is a win/win/win/win solution that funds classroom supplies, generates a sustainable funding source forCelebrateNJ, saves families money on their energy bills, and greens up the grid!
What is the Opportunity? Viridian Energy, a third party green energy electricity supplier, has developed a residual fundraising program for nonprofit organizations. This means that Celebrate NJ has an opportunity to raise money to support our programs by helping people understand the benefits of becoming a Viridian customer. Celebrate NJ wants to take the program further, and plans to Share the Green with Schools who help us promote the campaign. Funds can be used for classroom supplies, class trips and extras that often come out of teachers’ pockets. When families switch to Viridian, schools and classrooms will benefit every month as customers pay their electric bills. (PSE&G and JCP&L will still deliver the energy and generate the electric bill.)
